As of 1st March 2015, MTN Uganda will be changing the codes for loading airtime and checking balance. MTN since inception has used codes *155*xxxx# and *156# for loading airtime and checking balance respectively which all customers know. As per a UCC directive, all telecoms are to use the same code for loading and checking airtime balance in order to streamline services.
The new codes to load airtime on MTN Uganda will be *130*voucher code # and *131# to check balance. These codes will function across all networks.
MTN Uganda will need to make sure all it’s voice customers are aware about the change before then or there may be a huge influx of calls to the customer care center.
