Tecno Boom J8 Rumours: Features, Specs, Price and all we know for now

The Tecno Boom J7 was a hit and many will agree. The fresh design, all metal earphones, affordable price and the OS whatever it was, was a real winner. We do not have the statistics but from basic research, the Tecno Boom J7 enjoyed mass adoption.

But that was 2015. We are now in 2016 and many are anticipating the Tecno Boom J8. We have been scouring the web for leaks let alone contacting Tecno itself. After all the hard work, we got something and the future seems bright.

The Rumors

From scouring the web, we found a leak from Naija Information showing us what the Tecno Boom J8 might look like. We can also verify from our sources that the anticipated device looks like exactly like this. We saw thinner bezels, a bigger display of about 5.5 Inches with a bigger screen to device ratio.

The Tecno Boom J8 also seems to have a different design philosophy  from the Boom J7. It’s thinner with speakers at the bottom close to what we see in the Huawei P8, Samsung S6 or the iPhone 6. We`weren’t able to verify if the J8 build was plastic, metal or glass but what we saw looked beautiful. For this size of device, we are expecting a mini version for those who want a smaller display or a cheaper device.

Rumored Price and Availability (Updated)

The Tecno Boom J8 is rumored to launch this month across Africa. We have seen it being teased in Kenya and Rwanda. It should be available later this month or a couple of weeks later across Africa. From what we observed, the J8 might be anything between Ugx 500,000 – 800,000 with a mini version going for between Ugx 400,000 – 500,000.

Update

Tecno Boom J8 in Nigeria: We have confirmed that the Tecno Boom J8 is selling at 41,000 Naira in Nigeria (About $200 or Ugx 700,000)

Tecno Boom J8 in Uganda: We have received  confirmation that the Tecno Boom J8 will be going for the price of Ugx  500,000 from Africell Uganda.

Tecno Boom J8 in Kenya: According to Mobitrends a Kenyan website, the Tecno Boom J8 is going for Ksh. 17,000 about ( $ 146, Ugx 565,000)
