Full List of the Digital Impact Awards Africa 2017 winners

The 2017 Digital Impact Awards Africa (DIAA2017) were held at the Kampala Serena Hotel last Friday,  the 22nd of September. With Hipipo in the organization, given their tremendous efforts when it comes to events, a guest was confident of a smooth run of the event.

The show kicked off at exactly 7pm and was hosted by the king of radio, Spirit FM’s King Wesley.

There was a welcoming entertainment from the Burundian drummers that held firmly to their drumming sticks the entire performance.

A series of panel discussions ensued on a selection of issues pertaining digital and financial inclusion.

The first discussion was on what needs to be done to improve access and affordability of the internet. The second was on Agency banking and how ready we are for it. The third was looking at financial inclusion for the poor and the women.

Different stakeholders such as Mr. Nicholas Kalungi, Mr. Ali Abdul Rehman, Mr. Joseph Owino, Mr. Abdul Ssebagala,  Mr. Godfrey Byekwaso, Mr. Godfrey Yiga, Mr. Yanok Robert, and Mr. Francis Wasswa deliberated during the discussions.

After the panelists leaving the stage, it was time for the awarding ceremony. The organising team,  led by the HiPipo CEO, gave in remarks, which were followed by those from the DIAA patron  Hon.Karubanga David, the state minister for Public Service.

The awards were categorized in two batches. The first batch of winners was announced online, via social media, as the second batch awaited announcement from stage.

The first receipient was Prof Maggie Kigozi, who was already known to be the DIAA Investment Leadership Award winner beforehand. Prior to the receipt, there was a poem recited by Emily,  a young talented girl, on the Professor and why she deserved this award.

Hon.Karubanga David was then invited to hand over the award, which he did, just before Prof. Maggie Kigozi gave a remarks speech.
