SafeBoda, the Ugandan innovative motorcycle taxi app, has announced the launch of #YourCityRide, a series of events meant to run for a year with an aim to encourage citizens to discover more about Kampala.
The campaign, which will include monthly mini-campaigns will feature a tour of the city, street food festivals, boda themed street fashion shows, among other things.
At the event of the launch, SafeBoda also unveiled their new logo, comprising of two co-joined navigation tags, basically portraying boda-boda navigation.
There was also the opening of their new home on Bukoto Street, and the acceleration of a driver recruitment programme, which will see an addition of over 100 new equipped and trained drivers to the brand every other week.
SafeBoda co-founder Ricky Papa Thompson said at the event that SafeBoda was founded in Kampala, for Kampalans.
“We are excited about the campaign and about starting a conversation with our customers about Kampala. I encourage everyone to take part in the activities and share pictures. Let’s show off Kampala to the world.”
The guest of honour at the event, Mr. Amanyire Ronald – from the National Road Safety Council advised SafeBoda users to always ensure that they wear helmets to keep up the safety. He also urged the riders to look out for further safety measures in the brand, compared to the usual riders.
SafeBoda was founded in 2015 to bring innovation to the rapidly growing boda-boda industry, yet in a safe and convenient way.
Customers can pay for rides using cash, and also load credit using mobile money.
