After coming to an agreement, the regulatory bodies in NIRA and UCC have provided telecos with the equipment to verify ownership in times of SIM card replacement and swapping. To this, Africell Uganda and Uganda Telecom have followed MTN Uganda and Airtel Uganda on announcing their SIM card relacement procedure.
The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has also issued a set of guidelines on the replacement and swapping of SIM cards to the telecom operators and customers.
An interesting fact about this is that their process is free of charge at the Africell Uganda shops listed while at UGX 1000 at Uganda Telecom outlets, all equipped with National ID biometric verification system.
