Jumia Uganda has announced a brand new partnership with worldwide shoe retailer Bata and international oil company Total to increase the number of pick up stations that consumers can pick their Jumia orders from.
“We have seen demand for our services in upcountry locations like Masaka, Fort Portal, Mbarara Gulu, and Lira. Therefore, our expanded pick up station network with Total and Bata will enhance customer confidence and the adoption of e-commerce in 2020 countrywide,” says Jumia Uganda CEO Ron Kawamara.

This initiative is a part of Jumia’s strategy to reach more customers outside Kampala, where the demand for product variety and affordable product pricing is high.
When shopping on Jumia, customers upcountry will have an option to pick their orders from the nearest Bata store during the checkout process, and the products will be dispatched to the selected office for collection. This will be the same for customers in Kampala who will have an option to pick their orders from the closest Total service station.
The new Bata pick up stations in the upcountry locations will complement the already existing Bata stations in Kampala & will also allow customers to pay cash as they pick up. Previously, upcountry orders were restricted. This new cash on pick up payment for upcountry orders will enable customers to save on the delivery fee.
