2013 Social Media Awards Uganda Are Here: Final Nominees List Out

The rise of Social Media has been an upward spiral for a while now and its significance can no longer be undermined. Uganda is finally having its first Social Media Awards recognizing individuals and organizations that are making a difference in society in one way or another using Social Media. The awards are targeting individuals and organizations using Social Media in entertainment, change, sharing of ideas, creating communities and talking to customers online. The SMA website states that:

The awards seek to reward those individuals and organizations that are making a concerted effort to harness the power of social media to engage and build communities online. From avid face-bookers to twitter personalities and passionate bloggers

The event that will be held on November 15th 2013 at the Hub Oasis Mall, seeks to Identify and celebrate the best of the best in Social media. This is intended to create a vibrant ecosystem that will encourage more stakeholders to get actively involved building more opportunities for companies to connect with consumers establishing a platform that will enhance product and consumer engagement through creativity and innovation. The event will highlight the influence of social media on brand building and encourage companies to intensify online presence.

The 2013 SMA’s have identified 13 Categories: Best Blog/Blogger, Corporate Award, Entertainment Award, Social Justice, News & Information, Civil Service, Best Photography, Best Campaign, Best Innovation, Best Media outlet, Favorite Celebrity, Best Customer care and Best Crisis Management.

Voting Starts on Monday 4^th November. To Vote for a nominee in any category, one has to sign up on the SMA website
