OPPO midrange smartphones (A1k & A5s) now available in Nigeria

Following the success of its flagship smartphone, the OPPO F11 Pro in the region, the Chinese manufacturer unveils two new mid-range smartphones to cater to customers with a much lower budget. The new devices are dubbed the OPPO A1k and OPPO A5S, and each of the devices have their unique individual standout features and characteristics.

OPPO A1k

The OPPO A1k comes with a 6.1-inch LCD display with a 720 x 1560 pixels resolution and a dewdrop display cutout at the top of the display. The screen is in a 19.5:9 aspect ratio with reasonably slim bezels (80% screen-to-body ratio) and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

It runs the latest Android 9 Pie operating system and is powered by a 2.0GHz Octa-core Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 SoC. The OPPO A1k is laced with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with an option of expanding up to 256GB via the dedicated micro SD card slot.

There’s an 8MP camera on the rear and a 5MP sensor up front. Some features of the main/rear camera include HDR, Panorama, LED and video recording (up to 1080p) @30fps. The front-facing camera also supports HDR shots. Powering the OPPO A1k is a non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery which charges via micro USB 2.0.

OPPO A5s

The OPPO A5s is the bigger and better midrange device of the duo. The device comes with a bigger 6.2 inches LCD display with bigger screen-to-body ratio. It also features a dewdrop display notch which houses the 8MP selfie camera and a much sleeker exterior than the A1k.

There’s a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device alongside a dual-camera system that consists of a primary 13MP camera and a secondary 2MP depth sensor for adding Bokeh effects to pictures. The OPPO A5s is powered by a much faster 2.3GHz Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 Octa-core processor and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU.

Based on RAM devices is available in three(3) variants (3GB, and 4GB). Users can also purchase the OPPO A5s in two storage variants — 32GB and 64GB, although both can be expanded up to 256GB via the dedicated micro SD card slot. A Lithium-Ion battery of 4,230mAh capacity powers the OPPO A5s.

Pricing and Availability

The OPPO A1k and A5s have been launched in Nigeria and are both available on top online and offline smartphone retail stores like Jumia, SLOT, POINTEK, or any other accredited smartphone store that sells OPPO devices.

The OPPO A1k has a recommended retail price of ₦44,500 while the OPPO A5s (3GB/64GB) costs ₦54,000 and ₦70,000 (4GB/64GB).
