The Tecno ‘Spark‘ series is one of Tecno’s most popular series in Nigeria – largely because Tecno has been able to balance quality and affordability in this series. For instance, a year ago, we saw the introduction of the Spark 8 series, as well as the TECNO Spark 8C in Nigeria, all in quick succession. And one thing both smartphones had going for them was that they both came with refreshed designs, some decent specs, and most importantly, they were really affordable.
Almost a year later, Tecno has now unveiled the next iteration of the Tecno Spark series, Tecno Spark 9 Pro in Nigeria. And as expected, the new Spark 9 Pro also comes with new updates. First, there’s a new refreshed design (it features the trendy right-angled edge build). The major highlight of this smartphone, however, has to be its selfie camera.

The first major difference you will notice between the Spark 9 Pro and Spark 8 is the design. The new Tecno Spark 9 comes with an entirely new design. It features a trendy right-angled edge build, similar to what’s on Apple’s iPhone 12 and 13. This new design has a premium feel to it, as against what you’ll typically get on budget smartphones. There is very little difference in the display of both smartphones.
For hardware, the TECNO Spark 9 Pro is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G85 Chipset to deliver a smoother performance. And with an Arm Mali-G52 GPU, and the octa-core CPU featuring two powerful Arm Cortex-A75 CPUs, gamers will have a good gaming experience on this smartphone. It also features 128GB internal storage + 4GB RAM memory. Its predecessor, on the other hand, comes with the Helio P22 processor, a 2GB RAM model, and a 64GB internal storage space. The new Spark 9 is obviously superior in this area.
Finally, the camera on the Spark 9 Pro is the major selling point of the smartphone. It is a major upgrade from its predecessor. The selfie camera on the Spark 9 smartphone is a massive 32-megapixel lens. This is massive when compared to the 8-megapixel lens on the Spark 8. It also features a massive 50-megapixel rear camera, which is a massive upgrade from the 16-megapixel on the Spark 8.
