iPad Air 5 vs 4: Should You Upgrade Your Device?

Do you currently use the iPad Air 4 and are not sure if to upgrade your device to the latest iPad Air? You should read this post as I highlight the major differences and upgrades that were made to the 5th Generation of the iPad Air. I’ll also give my recommendation by balancing the price and features of the iPad Air 5 vs 4.

iPad Air 5 vs 4: What’s Different?

Software & CPU

The chipset that came with the iPad Air 4 was the A14 Bionic. (This was upgraded from the A12 Bionic in the previous generation). While the iPad Air 5 came with the M1 powering it. With this upgrade, you should expect stronger and faster performance.

Also, while the new iPad Air 5 came with the latest iPadOS 15, the previous version came with the iPadOS 14. However, it can be upgraded to the latest version of the operating system.

On the rear, nothing was changed from the previous version. However, the front camera was upgraded from a 7MP Wide selfie camera to a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera. It also came with newer camera features like Center Stage. Center Stage helps to automatically keep an object or user in view even as they move around.

5G Connectivity

While the iPad Air 4 supported just LTE. you can connect the iPad Air 5 has 5G support.

Should You Upgrade?

I strongly recommend an upgrade because starting prices for both versions are the same. They both start at $599. So, if you’re getting faster performance, better camera, and better connectivity for the same price, that sounds like a steal deal to me.
