1. DSTV Now

The DSTV Now app is a product of Multichoice and is the first attempt by DSTV to move beyond the infamous decoder first policy. DSTV Now is a mobile and web-based streaming service that lets DSTV subscribers watch and access their pay-TV content on the go through the web.

To use DSTV Now, you will have to own a DSTV decoder and subscribe to monthly DSTV bouquet prices. Your subscription package determines the live sports content you will be able to watch. The recommended package for live sports content is the DSTV Compact Plus bouquet, but the DSTV Compact package works fine as well.

Multichoice and SuperSports currently own the TV broadcast rights for most leagues across Europe, including the Premier League, Spanish La Liga, and Italian Serie A for the Sub-Saharan region and South Africa.

You can then download and log in to the DSTV Now app to catch the live sports content. The app is available for your TV, phone, tablet, or browser. It’s worth noting that streaming content via the app has been limited to one device at a time.

2. ShowMax Pro

Showmax is a streaming service owned by MultiChoice and is aimed at live sports and African-themed movies. The only difference here is that you need an active internet connection to stream your sports content. The service comes with 2 packages, i.e., the Showmax and Showmax Pro, of which the differences have been extensively covered in our previous blog posts.

Showmax Pro is the top-tier package and comes with all live sports content, including football, athletics, music, movies, and more. These games include all Premier League, Series A, PSL, Champions League, and La Liga games.

Showmax is supported on mobile phones, PCs, and smart TVs, and the app can be downloaded from the app store of the respective device. Users can watch simultaneously on two devices with the Showmaxx Pro package.

Showmax is way cheaper and more affordable compared to DSTV when you reside in an environment with a stable internet connection and power supply. It won’t make any financial sense to buy a DSTV decoder.

3. StarTimes App

StarTimes has a video streaming service that is free to their customers with their decoders. The StarTimes On App is available on the Google Play Store, the iPhone’s App Store, and Android-powered Smart TVs, and you will be required to link your decoder details to the app account before you can stream.

Live sports content available on StarTimes includes the German Bundesliga, UEFA Europa League, French Ligue 1, ESPN, and MMA(One Championship). The advantage with StarTimes is that you can pay for daily, weekly, and monthly access to the service. The best package for live sports and entertainment when using StarTimes is the premium Classic Bouquet, which gives you access to all channels.

4. beIN Sports

beIN Sports is the only true home of football in North Africa and the Middle East region, offering a range and depth of action that no other competitor can match. Operated by the Qatari media group, beIN Sports focuses on the MENA region and holds the rights to broadcast the Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga, Serie A, Major League Soccer, CAF games, and more.

The perks of beIN sports are that you don’t necessarily have to own their satellite decoder to be able to enjoy their services. They operate an over-the-top content service dubbed beIN Sports Connect, which allows users to watch live and on-demand live video content on smartphones, tablets, and PCs via the internet.

beIN CONNECT is available as a paid service in France, Spain, the United States, Canada, Turkey, Asia-Pacific, and the MENA region.

And that is it for our top 4 platforms where you can watch stream live football matches across the continent. Share with us your experience using any of the services listed and if you would love to see any other TV provider join your region per se.
