Well Today, Netflix is going a step further by announcing a Free plan for subscribers in Kenya, without ads! With this free plan, Netflix hopes it will lead to users signing up for a paid option with more content.

Oh yeah, there are a few notable catches for this free plan, obviously. First, users of this tier will be limited to about a quarter of all the content that is available on the Netflix catalog.

Luckily, popular titles like “Money Heist” and “Bridgerton” and African series “Blood & Water,” along with some of the programming the company licenses from others will be available.

Also, this is an Android-only plan, and functions such as the ability to download movies or shows will not be included under this free tier.

“If you’ve never watched Netflix before — and many people in Kenya haven’t — this is a great way to experience our service, And if you like what you see, it’s easy to upgrade to one of our paid plans so you can enjoy our full catalog on your TV or laptop as well.”

Cathy Conk, director of product innovation at Netflix, said in a blog post.

The Free Netflix plan will look pretty similar to paid Netflix plans, complete with profiles so as to give viewers a feel for the service. Shows and movies that are not part of the free plan will be marked with a lock icon with ‘encouragements’ to sign up for a paid account.

Also worth noting is that users in this plan won’t be required to provide payment information before signing up as the requirements only include an email address and confirmation that they’re over 18.

The Netflix free plan is said to have rolled out in Kenya on Monday, September 20, 2021 and users should be able to hop onto this plan effective now. We shall be on hand to guide you through that shortly so stay tuned to Dignited.
