Safeboda wants you to buy Fuel cheaply using credits

Safeboda, the Boda ride hailing startup you are already using to beat Kampala’s crazy traffic jam, buy airtime, order food and send packages wants you to do more. The Tech-driven transportation company wants its App (and presumably non-app) users to pay for Fuel at select petrol stations at a discount as long as you use its cashless system.

Safeboda pushed the campaign to its App users this week instructing them to top up their accounts via Airtel and MTN Mobile Money. Users can then visit the nearest petrol station between 8:00am and 4:00pm to buy fuel at discounted rate of Ugx 3,700 for Petrol and Uhx 3,500 for Diesel per liter. Safeboda agent will be located at the petrol station and you’ll transfer payments to the agent/merchant’s number. The current market price of Petrol is between Ugx 3,900-4,100 depending on where you fuel from.

You can still top up Fuel via cashless means using any Visa-enabled card issued by your bank. This shouldn’t attract any transaction fees according to a directive issued by Bank of Uganda. Also both Total and Shell have their own Fuel cards which you can use to purchase fuel at their respective stations.
